Lakehead Thunderwolves fifth-year senior forward Kelin Ainsworth (Thunder Bay, ON) is the winner of the Molson Cup trophy for the 2016-17 season.

Finishing behind Ainsworth in the Molson Cup race was sophomore goalie Devin Green (Calgary, AB), in second place, followed by senior forward Cody Alcock (Oshawa, ON) in third position. All three players will have their names inscribed on the trophy for the second year in a row, only this season Ainsworth and Alcock swapped places in the standings.

The trophy will be presented to Ainsworth before Wednesday nights playoff game against York, with Green and Alcock also participating in the pre-game ceremony.

Molson Cup points are awarded to players that are selected as one of the Molson three stars of the game after Thunderwolves hockey home contests. Five points are awarded for a first star selection, three points for a second star, and two points for a third.

Ainsworth also led the Wolves in scoring this year, posting 13 goals and 24 assists for a total of 37 points in 34 games played.
