London - The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men's hockey team knocked the host Western Mustangs out of the Queen's Cup Friday night with a 5-4 victory.

Third-year center Tristan Senior potted the winner with 31 seconds left in regulation to send the Varsity Blues team to Saturday's East Division Championship against the Ottawa Gee Gees (7:35 pm). The winner of that match-up will earn an automatic berth in the 2004 CIS Men's Hockey Championship and a spot in Sunday evening's Queen's Cup final, which will air live on The Score at 7 p.m.

The star of night for the Blues was fourth-year left-winger Tyler Middlebrook. The Pickering, ON native recorded a hat trick and added an assist on the Senior goal. Fourth-year center Ian Malcolm scored the other Blues' goal.

For the Mustangs, Justin Davis tallied a goal and added two assists. Jamie
Sokolosky, Tim Zafiris and Chris Eade also scored for Western.

The West Division final starts at 4:05 pm and features the Lakehead Thunderwolves and the York Lions and will be broadcast live in Thunder Bay on 580 CKPR AM radio and across Canada on the internet at www.ckpr.com.
