Lakehead University and the Thunderwolves hockey team are pleased to announce that defenceman Callum Fryer has committed to the program.

The 21-year-old rearguard played the past two seasons with the University of Massachusetts where he led the team in blocked shots both years. Like his former UMass teammate Nic Renyard who committed to Lakehead last month, Fryer has three years of athletic eligibility remaining.

Previously, the 6'3", 195-pound native of Oakville, Ontario played two seasons with the Aurora Tigers of the OJHL.

"I'm excited about transferring to Lakehead and living in Thunder Bay," Fryer said. "I'm looking forward to having some new experiences and meeting new people."

"It's great to have Callum join our team. He's a shutdown defenceman with great size and character," said Wolves' Head Coach Bill McDonald. "His game is similar to Dillion Donnelly's and his NCAA experience is a big plus, so he'll certainly strengthen our back end."
