Cory McEachran played another strong game in goal as the ex Lakehead netminder turned aside 34 shots fired by the Theo Fleury led Horse Lake (AB) Thunder as the Thunder Bay Bombers skated to a 7-5 upset win over the Thunder in an Allan Cup semi-final matchup Saturday night in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. The win puts the Bombers in the Allan Cup Championship game Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm EST. The Thunder Bay Twins were the last Thunder Bayteam to win the Allan Cup in 1989. The Twins won five Allan Cup Championships; the most of any single club team in Allan Cup history.

Other ex Lakehead players were also key in the victory as Robert Hillier scored one of the Thunder Bay goals while Jeff Adduono had two assists and Tyler Williamson and Matt Kennyhad an assist apiece. Barry Mckinlay led the Bombers with a hat trick, Joe Ritson added two and Steve Dumonski notched the other Thunder Bay marker. Horse Lake's goals came from ex NHLer Gino Odjick, Sasha Lakovic, Travis Cunningham, Tyler Brough, and Kip Noble. Fleury, the leading scorer in the round robin portion of the Allan Cup Tournament, was held to an assist.

The Bombers will face the Montmagny Sentinelles from Quebec for the Allan Cup on Sunday. Thunder Bay lost to Montmagny 5-2 in their Division One round robin game. Good luck to the Bombers in the Allan Cup Final!
