Lakehead Thunderwolves’ junior goaltender Devin Green (Calgary, AB) is the winner of the Molson Cup trophy for the 2017-18 season.

Finishing second in standings is junior Nic Renyard (Victoria, BC), marking the first time that two goalies will have their name inscribed on the trophy in the same season.  Green and Renyard both finished the regular season with 21 Molson Cup points each, but Green won the tie-breaker with one more first-star selection.

Freshman forward Daniel Del Paggio (Thunder Bay, ON) came in third place with 18 points, and will also get his name on the trophy.

Molson Cup points are awarded to players that are selected as one of the Molson three stars of the game after Thunderwolves hockey home contests.  Five points are awarded for a first-star selection, three points for a second star, and two points for a third.

The trophy will be presented to Green before Thursday night’s playoff game against York, with Renyard and Del Paggio also participating in the pre-game ceremony as the top three finishers in the Molson Cup point standings.  All three players will also receive gift packs courtesy of Molson Canada.

This marks the third year in a row that Green’s name will go on the cup, having finished second in the standings the previous two seasons.

Rounding out the top five are senior forward Brennen Dubchak (Kenora, ON) and freshman forward Scott Gall (Morden, MB) with 13 and 12 points respectively.
