The Lakehead Thunderwolves will host the Guelph Gryphons in the Save on Energy Christmas Challenge presented by Thunder Bay Hydro at the Fort William Gardens on December 29th and 30th, with the opening face-off set for 7:00 both nights.

Last Time Out

Lakehead closed out the first half of the season by picking up three out of a possible four points in road games at Brock and York on December 4-5.

The Wolves defeated Brock 3-2 in St. Catharines on the Friday night before falling 3-2 at York in double overtime the following evening.

About the Gryphons

Led by Head Coach Shawn Camp, the Gryphons are the defending Queens Cup champions and also captured the bronze medal at the CIS National Championships last March.

With a conference record of 10-6-0 this year, Guelph currently sits in second place in the West Division and is one of the hottest teams in the OUA after going 8-2-0 in its last ten games.

Forwards Robert DeFulvis and Seth Swenson are the Gryphons main scoring threats, along with defenceman Nicholas Trecapelli.
Andrew DAgostini is one of the top goaltenders in the OUA with a 2.14 GAA and 3 shutouts already this season.

Series History

Lakehead holds a significant advantage over Guelph in the all-time series with a record of 30-8-2 versus the Gryphons.

The two squads previously met in Thunder Bay last January with both sides getting a win. The Wolves pounded the Gryphons 8-2 in the Friday game before being edged 6-5 in overtime in the Saturday rematch.
