The Lakehead Thunderwolves will host the Laurentian Voyageurs in the battle of Northern Ontario this weekend as the OUA regular season enters the home stretch. The opening face-off is set for 7:00 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday nights.

The Matchup

Lakehead: 8-10-1 OUA (7th place West Division), 10-14-1 overall (4-9-1 home, 6-5 away).
Laurentian: 8-10-3 OUA (8th place East Division), 10-13-3 overall (5-5 home, 5-8-3 away).

Last Time Out

The Wolves are coming off two road losses at Ottawa, falling to the Gee Gees by scores of 8-4 last Friday and 3-1 in the Saturday rematch.

Laurentian also dropped a pair of away games in the nations capital last weekend, taking a 3-2 overtime loss at Carleton on Saturday night, followed by a 5-0 drubbing at Ottawa on Sunday afternoon.

Series History

The Thunderwolves lead the all-time series with Laurentian with a record of 6-2 versus the Voyageurs.

Lakehead hosted Laurentian at the Gardens last October, splitting the closely-contested weekend series as each team recorded a 4-3 overtime win.

About the Voyageurs

Based in Sudbury, Laurentian is relatively new to the league as the Voyageurs joined the OUA just prior to the 2013-14 season.

Head Coach Craig Duncansons squad is led up front by forwards Brent Pedersen and Darcy Haines, while defenceman Elliott Richardson is Laurentians top blue-liner.

Goaltenders Joel Vienneau and Charlie Millen (son of former NHLer Greg Millen) have split time in the Voyageurs net and both have posted respectable numbers, with Millen having the slight edge in both save percentage and goals-against average.
