McEachran Backstops Bombers to Allan Cup Championship

Ex Lakehead goaltender Cory McEachran backstopped the Thunder Bay Bombers to a 4-3 overtime win in the Allan Cup Championship game over the Montmagny Sentinelles Sunday afternoon in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. Derek Levanen scored the OT winner 2:18 into the first overtime period.Other ex Lakehead players had a role in the victory as Jeff Adduono continued his hot handpicking up a goal, assisted by CraigPriestlay while Mike Jacobsen picked up an assist.Thunder Bay's other goals came from KevinHoogsteen and Barry McKinlay. Montmagny's goals came from Vincent Boucher, Ray Carrier, and Benoit Paris.

McEachran was particulary strong in the first period as Montmagny outshot Thunder Bay 14-3 in the opening frame, but only came away with a 1-0 end of period lead. Final shots on goal were 32-26 for Montmagny. Hoogsteen's goal tied the game at 18:36 of the third, set up by Mike Figliomeni and Jacobsen.

McEachran was named a Tournament All Star for his efforts in the Bombers incredible playoff round run. The Bombers championship isa record tenth Allan Cuptitle for teamsfrom the Lakehead! (One more than Toronto and Winnipeg teams) Congratulations Bombers!
