Les Patriotes from UQTR are a formidable team again this year. They are four time defending Queen's Cup Champions and have been to the CIS University Cup Tournament five years in a row. This season, No. 2 UQTR posted a regular season record of 20-2-2 and were 22-6-3 overall.

They qualified by sweeping the Ottawa Gee Gees in the OUA Far East Finals. UQTR's high-powered offense was second in the OUA in goals for with 132, and they tied for second in goals allowed with 61. They face Toronto in the first semi-final Saturday at 4:00 p.m.

Head Coach Jacques Laporte said playing in the tough OUA Far East Division has been a good training ground for his young team. "Our team is very proud to attend Queen's Cup for the 15th time. In the Far East division, each team can aspire to win the playoffs and we think that we are very well prepared for the OUA championship after our two playoff games against Ottawa. With 11 rookies on our team we didn't expect, at the beginning of the season, to finish at the top of our well-balanced division. Our first goal was to rebuild our team and then to develop more cohesion for the second part of the season."

Coach Laporte said his opening game against Toronto should be a struggle since the team's split their two regular season matches. "We anticipate a really good game against the Toronto Blues. We won 7-1 in November at Trois-Rivires but they beat us 4-2 in February at Toronto. Each team at the Queen's Cup has the quality to win the final and we will try to win this prestigious title for the 5th time in a row."
