Queen's Cup 2003: York Preview

Perennial Mid West Champions York Yeomen arrive at the Queen's Cup with a record of 17-6-1 and 21-12-1 overall. No. 9 ranked York was third in the OUA in goals for with 128, and tied for second in goals allowed with 61. York also had the No. 1 penalty kill unit in the OUA.

York qualified for the Queen's Cup by defeating the Laurier Golden Hawks two games to one in the OUA Mid West Divisional Final. York will be Lakehead's opposition in the second semi-final on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.

York Head Coach Graham Wise said his team does not take Lakehead lightly. "We have a lot of respect for the Thunderwolves, they're a very well coached and disciplined team. We are in tough against a very good team."

Head-to-Head History:
This will be the 5th meeting between the two teams. The teams split their four meetings with Lakehead outscoring York 16-12.

York Yeomen Players To Watch:
The perennial Mid West Champion Yeomen are led by OUA West MVP and Rookie of the Year goaltender Derek Dolson. He led the CIS in shutouts with four. Another player to watch is OUA West-All star defenseman Sal Lettieri. Lettieri led all OUA defenseman in scoring.
