Former Lakehead defenseman Mike Self is expected to begin his professional hockey career Tuesday night with the Fresno Falcons of the ECHL. Self just finished his fourth and final season for the Thunderwolves mens hockey team and in those four years the Peterborough native established himself as one of the toughest defenders in OUA hockey and finished his Lakehead career with 6 goals and 27 assists.

Self said he is looking forward to hitting the ice with the Falcons. This is the next step in my hockey career and I am really excited with this opportunity with Fresno and to get my first start in the playoffs.

Selfs Falcons finished fourth in the ECHLs Pacific Division and will open the Kelly Cup first round playoffs on the road Tuesday night against the Bakersfield Condors.
