Lakehead Athletics and Thunderwolves Hockey are very pleased to announce that Mr. Peter Diedrich, CEO of TBayTel, has accepted the position of Tournament Chair for the 2009 and 2010 CIS Mens National Hockey Championships which will be hosted by Lakehead University in Thunder Bay in March of both of those years.
The mens hockey championships will mark the third sport for which Lakehead has hosted a CIS national championships; the first being the CIS wrestling championships in 1974, 1981, 2001 and 2002 and the second the womens basketball championships in 1994-95, and 96-97 to 98-99.
The CIS National Mens Hockey Championships in Thunder Bay will be sponsored primarily by TBayTel along with the strong support of other companies, organizations, and the fantastic fans in Thunder Bay that have been key to the success of Lakehead hockey over the past six seasons.

Lakehead University President Fred Gilbert commended Diedrich. Peter is a relative newcomer to Thunder Bay but it is wonderful to see how quickly he has embraced the community. This willingness to chair the CIS Hockey Championships is consistent with both his and TBayTels commitment to Lakehead University and Thunder Bay.
Lakehead Athletic Director Tom Warden said Diedrich is the perfect choice for the position. I am very happy that Peter will be our tournament chairperson as he brings his vast knowledge and experience to this crucial position. TBayTel and Mr. Diedrich have been strong supporters of Lakehead Athletics and this will only further solidify that relationship. I am sure Peter and the support of TBayTel will help ensure that the 2009 and 2010 mens hockey championships will be the best ever.
