The Lakehead University Thunderwolves lost a penalty marred game to the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns 6-4 before 2456 fans at the Fort William Gardens in Thunder Bay Saturday night. The rough and tumble match saw fourteen 10 minute misconducts being called as well as a game misconduct to Lakehead's Tyler Williamson.

Lakehead jumped out to a quick lead when Craig Priestlay scored at the 35 second mark of the first period. The Pronghorn's Kelly Lang notched the equalizer at the 7:33 mark, and the Thunderwolves finished the scoring in the first frame on a goal by Bryan Duce.

The second period saw Lethbridge score 3 unanswered goals from Charlie Mattersdorfer, Jarret Parkvin, and Mike Collens. The third period saw the teams score two goals apiece with Lakehead's Jason Lange notching two, and Lethbridge getting goals from Mattersdorfer and Captain Ryan Epp. The game saw two Lakehead goals disallowed, one when the referee lost sight of the puck, and the other when the referee called the play as a Lakehead player was down injured.

The Three Stars of the Game were:

1) Lethbridge's Charlie Mattersdorfer with two goals

2) Lakehead's Jason Lange with 2 goals

3) Lethbridge's Jarret Parkvin

Lethbridge outshot Lakehead 32-30. The game was the second of two non-conference matches between the two teams, with Friday's game ending in a 3-3 tie.

Lakehead prepares for another non-conference series against the UQTR Patriotes next weekend in Thunder Bay.
