In a goaltending duel between Lakeheads Jeff Bosch and Windsors Parker Van Buskirk, The Lakehead Thunderwolves edged the Windsor Lancers 2-1 at the South Windsor Arena on Friday night.

Windsor drew first blood at 17:43 of the first period when Mac McDonnell fired the puck past Bosch. That turned out to be the only time the Lancers were able to solve the Wolves netminder all night.

Lakeheads penalty killing unit has been dangerous all season, and that trend continued when Ryan Magill scored a short-handed goal to tie the game after being set up by Mitch Fillman and Mike Hammond late in the second period.

Adam Restoule put the Wolves ahead when beat Van Buskirk just 3:13 into the final frame, with Mike Quesnele and Carson Dubchak recording the assists on what turned out to be the game-winner, as Lakehead held on the rest of the way to take the 2-1 victory.

Shots on goal were 38-33 in favor of the Thunderwolves in a game where both goalies had to come up with their share of big saves.

The two teams will square off in a rematch at the South Windsor Arena on Saturday night, with the opening face-off set for 7:30.
