The CIS No. 9 Lakehead Thunderwolves mens hockey team skated to a very important 3-0 road win over the Brock Badgers Friday night in St. Catharines, Ontario.
Lakehead goes to 8-3-2 in OUA play (10-5-2 overall) while Brock has a 6-4-3 OUA mark.
Lakehead junior forward Brock McPherson continued his hot play by leading the Wolves with two goals. Sophomore Mitch Maunu added the other marker for the Wolves.
Sophomore Kyle Moir (4-2-1 OUA) notched the win for Lakehead; turning aside 20 Brock shots to get the shutout victory. Brock freshman netminder Kyle Jory (5-4-3) recorded the loss for the Badgers. Shots on goal were 24-20 for the Wolves.
Lakehead was 0-2 on the powerplay while the Wolves did a very good job on the penalty kill, holding the Badgers scoreless in six attempts.
The two teams face off again Saturday night at 7:30 pm and the game can be heard in Thunder Bay on Rock94 FM radio and online at www.rock94.com. Rock 94 FM Sports Director Bryan Wyatt will be calling the play by play live from St. Kitts.
