Lakehead goes to 11-3-2 in OUA play (13-5-2 overall) while Guelphs record goes to 7-11-1 in OUA play (8-13-1-1 overall).

The score was 1-1 after the first with play being fairly even. However the Wolves exploded for four tallies in the second to take the lead and never looked back. The Gryphons played well in the third and Lakehead fifth year senior netminder Chris Whitley (5-1 OUA) had to be sharp in the final stanza; making a number of good stops. Whitley also made a good save during a Guelph penalty shot by Thomas LaPlante.

Guelph netminder Adam Jennings (5-4) also made some good saves to deny the Wolves; especially in the second period. Guelph outshot Lakehead 49-39 in the game.

Lakehead had three players with three-point nights; Dan Speer and Scott Dobben with a goal and two assists each and Brock McPherson with three assists. McPherson had a six-point weekend as he also had a goal and two assists in Fridays win over Guelph. Lakeheads other goals came from Mark Soares, Bryan Wilson, Andrew Brown, and Kris Hogg. Wilson also added an assist.

Thunder Bay native Justin Gvora, Chris Baker, and Patrick Campbell scored for the Gryphons.

It was a very hard hitting game with a lot of tough bodychecks and a few times tempers flared on both teams. Lakeheads powerplay continued to be hot as the Wolves went 3-5 with the man advantage. The Wolves penalty kill was strong for the fourth consecutive game as well as Lakehead only allowed one Guelph goal on six powerplay chances.

The Molsons Three Stars were:
1)Lakehead: Brock McPherson
2)Lakehead: Scott Dobben
3)Lakehead: Chris Whitley

Lakehead now takes a break for exams and holidays and returns to the ice on Dec. 27th when it hosts its annual TBaytel Varsity Cup tournament; this year featuring the host Wolves; the defending champion Manitoba Bisons, the Saskatchewan Huskies, and the Laurier Golden Hawks.
