Lakehead University and the Thunderwolves hockey team are pleased to announce that forward Cooper Leitch has been added to the line-up.

The London, Ontario native played three years in the B.C. Junior Hockey League. He played the first half of the 2014-15 season in Prince George before being traded to the Trail Smoke Eaters, where he spent the next year-and-a-half.

The 63, 220-pounder finished up his career in the BCHL with the Langley Rivermen in 2016-17, where he was named the team captain and tallied 37 points in 52 games.

Wolves Coach Bill McDonald ishappy to have Leitch join the program. Cooper can play both centre and wing, and he brings the size and grit that were looking for, he said. The BCHL coaches I contacted tell me hes a respected player. He wore the C on his jersey which speaks to his character and leadership.

Leitch, who will be majoring in Business, is excited about his commitment. "After speaking with Coach McDonald on the phone, I was eager to fly to Thunder Bay for my recruiting visit. I feel that the coaching staff is top-notch, and the tour of the campus and city exceeded my expectations, he said. I'll be proud to wear the Thunderwolves jersey. Lakehead has everything Im looking for to enable me to progress as both a hockey player and a student.
