Lakehead University and the Thunderwolves hockey team are pleased to announce that Billy Jenkins has committed to the program.

The 511, 180-pound forward played five years in the OHL with the Kingston Frontenacs and Niagara Ice Dogs.

Jenkins, a native of Ottawa, Ontario, had his most productive season with Niagara in 2014-15 when he tallied 56 points in 68 regular-season contests, and then added 11 more points in an 11-game playoff run.

Wolves Head Coach Bill McDonald is excited to have Jenkins join the fold. I like Billys versatility in that he can play on either wing or at centre, and hes also a great person both on and off the ice, McDonald said. Hes a smart player with a high hockey I.Q. Whenever I saw him play, he always seemed to be in the right place, and his point production last year proved that. And his playoff production last spring (7 goals and 4 assists) showed his competitive edge.

Jenkins is eager to begin his freshman year at Lakehead, where he will be enrolled in Outdoor Rec. "I was very impressed with what they have going on up there and I became a big fan of the city on my recruiting visit, Billy said. I'm really happy with my decision to join the program and can't wait to get things started."
