Lakehead University and the Thunderwolves hockey team are pleased to announce that forward Brennen Dubchak has committed to the program.

A native of Kenora, Ontario, Brennen is the younger brother Carson Dubchak, who will be entering his third season with the Wolves this fall.

The 59, 175 pounder played for three different teams in three years of junior hockey, beginning with Thunder Bay North Stars of the SIJHL before moving on to the North Bay Trappers and the Espanola Rivermen of the NOJHL.

Dubchak led the Rivermen in scoring last season, recording 36 goals and 52 assists for 88 points in 62 games.

Thunderwolves Head Coach Bill McDonald likes the attitude he thinks the younger Dubchak will bring to the squad. Brennan put up good offensive numbers in junior, but we also need players who have character and are competitive on all areas of the ice, McDonald said. We think he has those qualities.

Brennen is looking forward to making the jump from junior hockey to the CIS. Coming to Lakehead is a great opportunity for me to play with my brother and to be closer to home, Dubchak said. I know its going to be a little different now that I wont be the big fish in a small pond so to speak, but Im ready for the challenge.
