The Lakehead University Thunderwolves hockey team is pleased to announce that defenceman Riley McIntosh has committed to Lakehead and will be donning a Wolves jersey next fall.

A native of Coquitlam, B.C., McIntosh played 182 games over four seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Kelowna Rockets and Tri-City Americans prior to joining the Coquitlam Express of the BCJHL as the teams captain for his over-age year.

"He's a player with WHL experience and he brought a lot of leadership and experience to our room," said Express head coach John Calvano. "He had an opportunity to play a lot and develop his game and we're happy he'll be continuing his career in the CIS."

At 6 5 and 210 pounds, McIntosh will bring good size to the Lakehead blue line. He also showed nice offensive ability this year in Coquitlam by notching 11 goals and 25 assists for 36 points in 58 games played. The big defenceman was also named the teams most valuable player this past season.

Thunderwolves Head Coach Joel Scherban is excited about what McIntosh will bring to the Lakehead hockey program. "We are excited that Riley has chosen Lakehead University to pursue his academic and hockey careers, Scherban said. After speaking with his former coaches and teammates, there is no doubt that Riley will be a great addition to our team both on and off the ice."
