The Lakehead University Thunderwolves hockey team is pleased to announce that James DeLory has committed to the program.
DeLory, a 65, 225 pound defenceman will have to sit out the upcoming season after playing two years of professional hockey, but will still have three years of CIS hockey eligibility beginning in the fall of 2012.
The Newmarket, Ontario native played 300 games in five seasons with the Oshawa Generals of the OHL, which selected him in the first round (eighth overall) in the 2004 OHL draft. His best year in Oshawa statistically came in 2005-06 when he tallied 6 goals and 26 assists for 32 points. During his career with the Generals, he totaled 107 points and 634 penalty minutes.
The big blue-liner was a fourth-round pick of the San Jose Sharks in the 2006 NHL draft, but later signed with the Florida Panthers. He played for two full years in the Panthers system with the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL and the Shereveport Mudbugs of the CHL, where he won a league championship last season.
DeLory is excited to be joining the Wolves. I've heard nothing but good things about the Lakehead program and the city of Thunder Bay, he said. Ive also been told how much the fans enjoy tough, blue-collar hockey, and that's what I intend to bring to the ice every night."
