Lakehead Thunderwolves’ defenceman Dillon Donnelly has left Lakehead with a year of eligibility remaining in order to pursue a professional hockey career with the Wichita Thunder of the ECHL.
The stay-at-home rearguard recorded 25 points in the three years he played for the Thunderwolves, the last two of which the Dorval, Quebec native served as the team captain.
Donnelly is appreciative of the time he spent at Lakehead. “I would like to thank Lakehead University and the Athletics Dept. for the first-class support I received, and also the fans that made it an exciting environment every time we played,” he said. “I’d also like to say thank you to Bill McDonald, Andrew Wilkins, Tom Warden, Blake Barry and the rest of the staff that supported me during my time here. Most importantly, I want to thank my teammates for all the great times we had and for the friendships I made in Thunder Bay.”
Wolves’ Head Coach Andrew Wilkins said, “I wish Dillon all the best as he moves on to the next step in his hockey career. He was a great player and captain, and he will be missed.”
