Grant McCune, #1, is the Thunderwolves second year goaltender. Last year, he was an integral part of the Thunderwolves first year success. This year, he has started the season with a bang, being named CIS Athlete of the Week. This marked the first time that a Thunderwolves hockey player has been honoured with this prestigious award.

MA: How does it feel to be named CIS Athlete of The Week?
McCune: It's a great honor. I think it is a great reflection of how our team has come along in the past year or so and shows just how competitive of a team we have.

MA: What are your thoughts on the team and the organization in this, its second season?
McCune: I think it has made great strides in trying to do what every team in the CIS wants to do, and that is win a national championship.

MA: What do you think are the differences between this year's team and last year's?
McCune: I don't think there is much difference from last year. Unfortunatly we had to lose some guys, but that is part of university sports. We are just very fortunate that the guys we brought in to fill those spots are as dedicated as those who left.

MA: What did you think about the results against Waterloo this past weekend?
McCune: I thought we played really hard both games, making sure we did things properly to win. That's pretty much it, we just have to take every game as the most important game of the year and play as if it's our last.

MA: What are your thoughts about the upcoming series against York?
McCune: York will be very tough. They play on Olympic ice, which is a new experince for us, plus they are a very talented team that knows what they have to do to win.

MA: Your hobby is sleeping? Can you elaborate?
McCune: I like my sleep. Like most university students ( I think) we don't get enough of it, so I like to take advantage of it when I can.

MA: What is your favourite fast food?
McCune: Not really sure, I'd say anything that is quick, tastes good, fills me up and doesn't cost me too much. Sure, that's high expectations for fast food, but whatever.

MA: If you were a pirate, who would you be, Captain Hook or Long John Silver, and why?
McCune: Neither. I would be Captain Highliner, so I could eat all the fishsticks I want.

MA: What do you really love about playing for the Thunderwolves?
McCune: Everything. Just being part of an organization that wants to win and be the best. As well as being with great guys that get along and make coming to the rink every night a great time.

MA: Do you have any message to the Thunderwolves fans?
McCune: Just keep suporting us the way you are. You make the game exciting for us players and we appreciate it. You helped put this University on the hockey map and we wouldn't be where we are without you. Thanks.
