Hammond wins Molson Cup

Lakehead Thunderwolves freshman forward Mike Hammond (Victoria, B.C) is the winner of the Molson Cup trophy for the 2011-12 hockey season. Hammond scored 15 goals and added 25 assists for 40 points in 36 games this season (including non-conference play).


Finishing behind Hammond in second place in the Molson Cup standings is sophomore defenceman Mike Quesnele (Sault St. Marie, Ontario), followed in third position by junior goaltender Alex Dupuis, (Thunder Bay, Ontario). All three players will have their names inscribed on the trophy for the first time.


Molson Cup points are awarded to players that are selected as the Molson Three Stars after every Thunderwolves hockey home game. Five points are awarded for a first star selection, three points for a second star, and two points for a third star.


The top five finishers in the Molson Cup race for the 2011-12 season are as follows:

Hammond will be awarded the Molson Cup in a pre-game ceremony that will include the top three finishers before Lakeheads first home playoff game on February 17.
