Junior winger Kris Hogg (Sicamous, British Columbia) was named the Lakehead hockey teams recipient of the Thunderwolves RBC Athlete of the Month for January, Lakehead Athletics announced at a Tuesday media conference at the LU Hangar.

Hogg helped the Thunderwolves to a six-game winning streak to close January - their longest streak of the 2009-10 season. In the seven OUA games in which he played, the Wolves went 6-1 while Hogg accounted for game-winning goals in three of those contests. He scored five goals overall with four assists for nine points, while contributing on the defensive end as well with a team-best eight blocked shots and a share of the team lead with a plus/minus of +5.

"Kris elevated his play in the month of January and is a major reason the team is currently on a six-game winning streak, says head coach Joel Scherban. In addition to his timely goals he has developed into one of the top defensive forwards in the OUA. Kris has been matched against the opposing teams top lines and has excelled on the penalty kill."
