Home Depot Backyard Rinks Contest Winner Announced

Lakehead Thunderwolves Hockey, The Home Depot, and the Chronicle Journal are very happy to announce the grand prize winner of this years Home Depot Backyard Rinks Contest. The winner is5-year old Gareth Aegard of Thunder Bay.

Gareths prize is all the materials needed to build a backyard rink behind his house next winter; courtesy of The Home Depot and the Chronicle Journal. Additionaly, Gareth will get to invite some of his friends for a backyard game next season with a group of Lakehead Thunderwolves players.

Gareth, an SK student at Gron Morgan school, said he was thrilled to learn he was the winner of the contest. I wanted a rink so I could play hockey every day. I had a great time at the Thunderwolves Hockey School at Christmas time and I like to practice the drills I learned there with my Mom and Dad. I want to be a hockey player in the NHL when I grow up. I feel fantastic that I won the prize! I know my Dad will build a great rink next winter.

Clint Harris, Director of Sales/Marketing & Vice-President of the Thunder Bay Chronicle Journal, said his paper is proud to support healty lifestyle choices for kids and the Thunderwolves. The Chronicle Journal enjoys participating in events like the Home Depot Backyard Rinks contest for a number of reasons. Someone wins a new rink and the neighborhood kids have a place to go to skate and play hockey close to home. The Chronicle Journal is proud of promoting health and activity in the outdoors as well as supporting the Thunderwolves; who are working hard to keep hockey fans of all ages entertained throughout the season.
