The Lakehead Thunderwolves mens hockey team and Head Coach Don McKee are very proud to announce the commitment of Andy Hyvarinen to the Wolves for the 2008-09 season.

For the last two years the Thunder Bay native starred for Canmore in the Alberta Junior League. The prolific scorer won the league scoring championship for 2007-08; posting 44 goals and 57 assists. He also played three seasons for the Guelph Storm of the OHL.

Lakehead Head Coach Don McKee is optimistic that Hyvarinen will become an impact player with the Wolves. After losing our last playoff game 1-0 to Brock, offensive talent is something that I will always welcome to the Wolf Pack. I am hoping Andy will give us this offensive flare for the next four or five years as he completes his university degree.

Hyvarinen said he is very happy for the opportunity to play for the Thunderwolves. Well it was definitely a great honour to be a player that the Thunderwolves were looking at. Lakehead is a great organization with lots of history and I am very excited to have the chance to play for them as well as at home.
