Lakehead University and the Thunderwolves hockey team are pleased to announce that forward Jake Wright has committed to the program.

Thunderwolves Head Coach Bill McDonald feels that Wright will add depth and toughness to the Wolves lineup. Jake Wright has a competitive edge to his game. Hes very good in front of the net and along the boards - he goes to the hard areas to create goals. Plus he adds versatility in that he can play both centre and wing.

The 6 foot, 205-pounder played two seasons for the Woodstock Slammers of the Maritime Hockey League and led the team in scoring last year, tallying 24 goals and adding 53 assists for 77 points in 52 games.

Wright had previously played two seasons for his hometown Soo Thunderbirds of the NOJHL, where he won the Dudley Hewitt Central Canada Junior A Championship played at the Fort William Gardens in April of 2012.

Jake is pleased to be coming to Lakehead next fall. Im excited to start a new chapter in my life combining hockey and education. After playing the last two years in New Brunswick, Im looking forward to being closer to home, and its an honor to be joining a team of this caliber.
