The Lakehead Thunderwolves and the Waterloo Waterloo Warriors fought to a 1-1 OT draw Saturday night at the Columbia Ice Fields Arena in Wateloo. Lakehead now has an 8-4-2 OUA mark (12-7-4 overall) while Waterloo is 9-1-2 in OUA play and 11-5-2 overall.

Lakeheads goal came from Dan Rogers while Dave Philpott tallied for the Warriors. Both Lakeheads Chris Whitley and Waterloos Curtis Darling both played well in their respective nets. Lakehead outshot Waterloo 39-34 in the game.

Lakehead Head Coach Pete Belliveau said the Wolves played well against a tough opponent. It was a prototypical playoff type game and both teams played hard. We started slow in the first but the guys really picked it up and gave a great effort in the second, third, and OT. Maybe its not the best result but Im very happy with the teams effort, well take the point, and get ready for the second half of the season.

Lakehead now is off for the Christmas break and will return to the ice Dec. 28-31 when the Thunderwolves will host the annual Varsity Cup Tournament; this year featuring the host Wolves, Calgary, St. FX, and the Lake Superior State Lakers.
