Lakehead University and the Thunderwolves hockey team are pleased to announce that goaltender Justin McDonald has committed to the program.

The 511, 190-pounder played two seasons for the Kindersley Klippers of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League before being traded to the OCN Blizzard of the Manitoba Junior League for the 2012-13 season. McDonald posted a win-loss record of 27-13 for the Blizzard, and recorded 5 shutouts with a 2.99 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage last year. He was also named the MJHL Goaltender of the Month this past October.

The Turtleford, Saskatchewan native is looking forward to enrolling in the Engineering program this fall. I'm proud to join the wolf pack and represent Lakehead University, and I like the fact that it has smaller class sizes and more personal teaching, Justin said. As for the hockey, Coach McDonald is experienced and passionate about the game, and everyone I asked told me that Lakehead has the biggest fan base in CIS hockey. That got my attention because I love playing in front of big crowds.

Thunderwolves Head Coach Bill McDonald said Justin has a great work ethic, and he keeps himself in top physical condition. Hes a proven winner at the junior level, and I expect him to come here and compete for the starting position.
