Lakehead University and the Thunderwolves hockey program are pleased to announce the roster for the 2014-15 season. The Wolves will carry a total of 26 players including 17 forwards, 7 defencemen, and 2 goalies.

The squad will consist of 2 fifth-year seniors, 7 seniors, 3 juniors, 7 sophomores, and 7 freshmen.

The 17 forwards are fifth-year senior Ryan Magill; seniors Jason Grecica, Mike Hammond, Keith Grondin and Jake Carrick; juniors Carson Dubchak and Kelin Ainsworth; sophomores Cody Alcock, David Quesnele and Matt Kaarela; and freshmen Nathan Cull, Jake Wright, Austin McDonald, Dylan Butler, Trevor Hynnes, Brennen Dubchak and E.J. Faust.

The 7 defencemen are fifth-year senior Mike Quesnele; seniors Luke Maw and Mitch Fillman; junior Jay Gilbert; and sophomores Andrew Tessier, Nathan Bruyere and Cody Kostecki.

The 2 goalies are senior Jeff Bosch and sophomore Justin McDonald.

Upperclassmen who will not be returning to the team this fall are defenceman Riley McIntosh, who has chosen to focus on his heavy academic workload, as well as forwards Adam Restoule and Paul Thompson, who were caught up in a numbers game.

Wolves Head Coach Bill McDonald said that releasing players is one of the toughest parts of the job. Making cuts is always difficult. Even though Ive been in the coaching business a long time, I never get used to it. Unfortunately, its a part of competitive hockey, he said.

In the case of Adam Restoule and Paul Thompson, I let go of two fine young men who were a part of the team last year, and I would like to thank them for everything they gave us.

Lakeheads second-year bench boss added, There is still going to be ongoing competition for ice time, because weve got 26 guys on our roster and we can only dress 20 players a game. But weve added some depth and Im excited to see how the new players perform.
