Lakehead wins in overtime over the Laurier Golden Hawks
The Hawks would get on the boards first when Lucas Chard would find the back of the net off of a pass from Thomas Lenart for the early 1-0 lead. The Thunderwolves would get on the board late in first when Josh Van Unen would rip a wrist shot past Tristan Malboeuf to tie the game up at 1-1 heading into the intermission.
The second period would see the Wolves and Hawks exchange scoring chances and but neither team could find the back of the net.
In the third period midway through the Golden Hawks would take the lead when Callum Chisholm would fire a shot past Carson Cherepak to give the Hawks the 2-1 lead. A little over 5 minites later Naaman Hofer would blast a shot from the point past Malbouef to even the score at 2-2.
It would take overtime to determine a winner and Lakehead’s Keighan Gerrie would be the hero wristing a shot past Malboeuf to complete the come back and seal the 3-2 win.
