Lakehead completes weekend sweep in Manitoba

Lakehead completed the weekend sweep in Manitoba with a 6-5 win in overtime.over the Regina Cougars.

Lakehead would open the scoring in the first period when Tyler Ho would put a Blackwell pass in the back of the net.

Regina would answer back 6 minutes later when Barnstable would beat Brock Aiken to tie the game up at one.

In the second Regina would take the lead when Sass on the powerplay would slip it by Aiken to put the Cougars up by a goal.

Lakehead would tie the game up when Colin Blackwell would bury a Joe Mack pass passed Regina netminder Meger. Shortly after Lakehead would take the lead when Tyler Ho would notch his second of the game when he knocked a Auger shot passed the Regina keeper.Lakehead would take the 3-2 lead nto the intermission.

Lakehead would strike quickly in the third period when Greg Smith would deflect a Dylan Massie shot passed Meger to put the Wolves up by two.

Regina would pull within one a little over a minute later when Regina's Schmidt would beat Aiken in close.

Lakehead's Dylan Massie would put Lakehead up by two once again when he buried a a Tyler Turpin pass passed Meger.

Regina would rally in the latter part of the third period when Pouteau would strike on the Powerplay and 3 minutes later Doucet would beat Aiken in close to send the game into overtime.

In overtime Lakehead's Colin Van Den Hurk would be the hero and beat Meger with a slap shot from the right circle on the powerplay to send Lakehead home with the win and the weekend sweep.

Lakehead would be outshoot 17-16 in the game.
