Lakehead Thunderwolves lock up home ice advantage with big win over Brock 4-1.

Keighan Gerrie opened the scoring for the Thunderwolves after a Brock turnover and rifled it past Brock netminder Mario Peccia.

Just 1:28 later Josh Van Unen would take a Colin Vanden Hurk pass and rip it past Peccia to up the lead to 2-0.

The Badgers would get on the board before the period was out on the power play when Adam Berg would pick up a loose rebound at the side of the net and walk out front and rifle it over Wrights left shoulder to cut the lead to 2-1.

The second would see Spencer Blackwell on the powerplay convert a Kyle Auger pass to restore the two goal cushion.

At 15:21 of the second period a scrum would develop behind the lakehead net when tempers would flare.

Josh Van Unen would get a great scoring chance on a partial break away but would be stopped by Mario Peccia.

The third period would see both teams get multiple scoring attempts but it would be the Thunderwolves Ben Badalamenti scoring into the empty net to seal the game and clinched a playoff spot and home ice advantage.

The Wolves return to the friendly confines of the Fort William Gardens to conclude the 2022-23 regular season against the Windsor Lancers on Thursday February 9th. It is the make up game from November 25th. Game time is 7pm.
