Lakehead takes the first game of the 2 game series with Nipissing 4-3 in a shoot out.
Nipissing would strike first when Elvis Gorontzky-Slack would find the back of the net two minutes into the game.
The Wolves would respond one minute later when Ben Badalamenti would finish off a pass from Olivier Pouliot beating Nipissing's Proulx.
The Wolves would take the lead late in the frame when Spencer Blackwell would get his first of the season on the powerplay wristing a shot past Proulx to head to the break up 2-1.
The Wolves would up the lead to 3-1 when Griffen Fox would pounce on a rebound find the twine.
Nipissing's Parker Bowman would strike twice in the frame to tie the game up at 3-3.
The third period and OT would not solve the deadlocked score so it would require a shoot out and Josh Van Unen would backhand the puck past Proulx to give the Wolves the lead and Christian Cicigoi would slam the door on Nipissing to seal the win for the Wolves.
