The Lakehead Thunderwolves fell 4-3 in overtime to the Brock Badgers at the Seymour Hannah Centre in St. Catharines on Friday night.

After a scoreless first period, Brock opened the scoring at 12:31 of the second stanza when Andrew Radjenovic beat Lakehead netminder Justin McDonald while the Badgers were on the power play.

It was in the third period, when what so far had been a defensive battle, the game turned into a shootout for the final twenty minutes.

Lakeheads Cody Alcock knotted the score at 1-1 just 1:15 into the third with a shot that eluded Badgers goalie Adrian Volpe. Andrew Wilkins and Mitch Fillman were credited with the assists.

Carson Dubchak put the Wolves in front 2-1 on an unassisted effort at 11:38, but Brocks Jordan Gignac tied the game back up at 2-2 just over 30 seconds later.

With the Badgers on the power play, Anthony Geldart put Brock ahead 3-2 at the 15:30 mark, but Wilkins responded for the Wolves off a feed from Mike Hammond to tie the game at 3-3 and force overtime.

The extra period didnt last long however, as Brocks Dan Tanel ended the back-and-forth action when he scored the winner just 2:13 into overtime.

Shots on goal for the game were 36-32 in favor of the Thunderwolves.

Lakeheads OUA record now stands at 13-3-1, and the single point earned for the overtime loss keeps the Wolves in first place in the West Division, one point ahead of second-place Ryerson.

The Thunderwolves will travel to London next, where they will take on the third-place Western Ontario Mustangs on Saturday night.
