The Thunderwolves first home game of the pre season did not turn out as they would have liked. Before the game even got started there was an issue with the scoreboard which resulted in a delay of ten minutes.

Once the game got going so did the Guelph Gryphons. the game was not even five minutes old and Guelph got on the board first when Nolan DeGruse knocked a loose puck that was in behind Lakehead's Christian Cicigoi into the open net. That would be the only goal of the first period.

The second period would feature alot of action. Lakehead would score just under two minutes in when Joe Mack would slap a Spencer Blackwell pass passed Guelph netminder Colton Incze to tie the game up at one.

Just under four mnutes later Guelph's Nate Allensen would tip and point shot past Cicigoi to put the Gryphon's ahead 2-1. Guelph would go up by two just past the midway point of the period when Guelph defensmen Cole Cameron would beat Cicigoi with a slapshot from the top of the slot.

Lakehead would respond shortly after when Griffen Fox would slip one past Guelph's Tanner Wickware to pull Lakehead within one heading into the break.

The third period would see Guelph close out the game with two late goals, one by Luke KutKevicius and getting his second of the game Nolan DeGruse would score in the empty net to give Guelph the 5-2 win.

The Molson 5 Forks 3 Stars of the Game:

  1. Nolan DeGruse - Guelph
  2. Cole Cameron - Guelph
  3. Luke Kutkevicius - Guelph
