Lakehead falls to York in overtime

 The Thunderwolves and Lions came out of the gate and exchanged scoring chances early but it would be the Wolves who would strike first just past the midway point of the first period when Olivier Pouliot would rifle a pass from Malte Hasselgren past York netminder Dawson Smith.

 The second would see the Wolves add to the lead on the powerplay when Caden Drury would finish off a tic tac toe play and beat Smith with a hard wrist shot for a 2-0 lead.

 York would chip away at the lead when Harry Clark would break up a Wolves break out and flip the puck to Brendan McCarthy who would wrist a shot past Christian Cicigoi to make it 2-1.

 McCarthy would pick up his second of the game 3 minutes later picking up the puck in front of the net and knocked it home to tie the game at 2-2.

 The third would see the Wolves and Lions exhange goals quickly. The Wolves would take the 3-2 lead at 6:13 when Brody Beauchemin would rifle a shot top corner on Smith. York would answer back just over a minute later when Maiden Macintosh would tie the game back up flipping the puck over Cicigoi to tie the game up at 3-3. The Wolves would strike back just over a minute later when Namaan Hofer would pick up a lose puck a rifle it home over a sprawling Smith to the delight of 2076 fans in attendance to give the Wolves a 4-3 lead.

 York would tie the game up late in the period when Aiden MacIntosh would pick up his 2nd of the game wristing a shot past Cicigoi.

 The game would need overtime to break the deadlock.York would strike quickly into the frame with Harry Clark ripping a shot from the left circle over Cicigoi to give York the 5-4 win.
