Lakehead University and the Thunderwolves hockey program are pleased to announce the roster for the 2011-12 season. The Wolves will carry 26 players including 14 forwards, 9 defencemen, and 3 goalies.

Of the 26-man roster, there are 2 fifth-year seniors, 2 seniors, 8 juniors, 4 sophomores, and 10 freshmen. This will make this years Wolves the youngest squad that Lakehead has had in quite some time.

The 14 forwards are fifth-year senior Devin Welsh; senior Adam Sergerie; juniors Victor Anilane, Andrew Wilkins, Ryan McDonald, Brennan Menard, Matt Caria and Jadran Beljo; sophomores Ryan Magill and Trevor Gamache; as well as freshmen Jason Grecica, Mike Hammond, Keith Grondin, and Jake Carrick.

The 9 defencemen will consist of fifth-year senior Mitch Maunu; senior Kalvin Sagert; junior Mike Thibert; sophomore Mike Quesnele; and five freshman blue-liners Luke Maw, Riley McIntosh, Mitch Fillman, Chris de la Lande, and Danick Malouin.

The 3 goalies are junior Alex Dupuis, sophomore Josh Mrakic, and freshman Jeff Bosch. Dupuis and Bosch will be battling for the starters playing time, while Mrakic will take on the role of third goaltender and back them up.

"The coaching staff is excited to begin the season with a roster that features a great mix of veteran experience and freshman enthusiasm, said Thunderwolves' Head Coach Joel Scherban. We have a very difficult first three weeks this year, playing aperennial top-10 team in UQTR at home this weekend, followed by a trip totake onthe reigning NCAA champion Minnesota-Duluth, and then opening the OUA regular season at home with the two-time defending Queens Cup champion McGill Redmen. Were anxious to see how we perform against some of the top University teams in North America."

Instead of having one Team Captain, the Wolves will use a Tri-Captain system this season. The three Captains will be seniors Adam Sergerie and Kalvin Sagert, along with Junior Andrew Wilkins. All three players will wear an A on their jersey.

"This season weve had not one, but three players emerge as the leaders of our team, Scherban said. Im confident that Adam, Kalvin, and Andrew will do a great job in leading our program while sharing the Captains responsibilities."
