Lakehead gets trounced by Toronto

Lakehead drops second straight road game losing 9-3 to Toronto.

Lakehead had a great start to the game getting on the board when Joe Mack beat Toronto netminder Alex Bishop on the powerplay to break the ice.

Lakehead would get their second powerplay goal of the period when Griffen Fox would knock in a rebound to put the Wolves up by two.

Toronto would then take control of the game as they would score four straight goals to take a 4-2 lead.

First Billy Moskal would strike on the powerplay when he banged in a rebound past Blake Weyrick. Then Danny Katic and Owen Robinson would score 2 goals in a span of 1:28. Nick Grima would round out the first period scoring with a powerplay marker.

The Blues would continue the scoring in the second when Peyton Reeves picked the puck up off of a Lakehead turnover would wrist a shot past Weyrick to put Toronto up 5-2.

Ben Woodhouse got on the scoresheet after beating Weyrick from the high slot to increase the Blues lead.

Lakehead's Noah Massie would find the back of the net with a nifty wrister from the top of the left circle that went top shelf to bring Lakehead within in three.

Geoff Dempster received a match penalty after a dangerous hit from behind that resulted in Toronto's Brendan Bornstien leaking blood from a gash on his forehead. Lakehead would kill off the five minute penalty.

In the third Toronto's Cole Purboo, Ben Woodhouse and Steven Elliot would round out the scoring for Toronto as they defeated Lakehead 9-3.

Toronto outshot Lakehead 61-36 Lakehead was 2 for 5 on the powerplay while Toronto was 4 for 8 on the powerplay.

Lakehead concludes their road trip Saturday night against Toronto. Game time is 7pm.
