The Thunderwolves are coming off a big 3-2 road win last Saturday night over the Ryerson Rams, the ninth-ranked team in the nation at the time.

Lakehead was edged 3-2 by Ryerson the night before, one day after the Wolves collected a point in a 6-5 overtime loss at Waterloo on Thursday, giving Lakehead a total of three points during the three-game road trip.

Laurier lost both of its games last weekend as the Hawks were shut out 2-0 at home to Brock, followed by a 3-2 defeat at Windsor.

Series History

Lakehead and Laurier have had some great battles over the years, with the Wolves holding a slight edge in the all-time series between the two teams with a record of 35-29 over the Golden Hawks.

Lakehead took a pair of wins at Laurier in early October, defeating the Hawks by scores 3-2 and 3-1.

Teddy Bear Toss Friday

Friday night is the Newmont Goldcorp teddy bear toss game, where fans can toss a new plush toy on the ice when the Thunderwolves score their first goal.  All teddy bears collected will donated to several local children’s charities.

There’s Room at the Top

Lakehead forwards Daniel Del Paggio and Tomas Soustal have joined teammate Josh Laframboise on the first page of the OUA scoring stats, giving the Thunderwolves three players in the top 20.  Laframboise is in 15th place on the list, with Del Paggio 19th and Soustal 20th.

About the Golden Hawks

Laurier’s most dangerous scoring threats are forwards Anthony Conti, Anthony Sorrentino and Will Cook, while defencemen Kyle Jenkins and Zack Dybowski are the top blue liners.

Freshman goalie Matt Williams has taken the majority of the playing time away from incumbent Tyler Fassl this season, and has so far posted the better numbers with a 2.84 GAA and a .918 SV%.
