Lakehead hosts Laurier in final weekend of the season

The Lakehead Thunderwolves will host the Laurier Golden hawks in the Wolves final games of the season at the Fort William Gardens this Friday and Saturday, with the opening face-off set for 7:00 pm both nights.

Last Time Out

Lakehead spilt a pair of games at Guelph last weekend, falling 6-2 to the Gryphons on Friday night before rebounding with a 2-1 overtime victory in the Saturday rematch. The loss on Friday night eliminated the Wolves from playoff contention for the first time in the teams 15-year history.

Series History

The Thunderwolves have an all-time record of 30-22-0 versus the Golden Hawks. Lakehead played at Laurier twice last season, losing 4-3 in October before winning 3-2 last February.

About the Golden Hawks

Laurier is currently in seventh place in the OUA West and has clinched a playoff berth with a conference record of 13-13-0.

The Hawks top scorers are forwards Derek Schoenmakers and Christian Mroczkowksi, while freshman Mac Clutsam leads the defensive corps. The goaltending duties have been shared by Colin Furlong and Vinny Merante.

Senior night Saturday

Lakehead will honor the seniors that will playing their final game as a Thunderwolf in a pre-game ceremony Saturday night. Luke Maw, Jeff Bosch, Kelin Ainsworth and Carson Dubchak will all be wearing the Thunderwolves jersey for the last time that evening.
