The Lakehead Thunderwolves will host the Waterloo Warriors at the Fort William Gardens this Friday and Saturday for a crucial series against a division rival. Game time is 7:00 PM both nights.

Last Time Out

The Wolves spilt a pair of games on the road last weekend, winning 3-2 in double overtime at Brock on Friday night before falling 3-1 to the division-leading York Lions on Saturday.

Series History

Lakehead holds the advantage in the all-time series with Waterloo with a record of 32-21-2 versus the Warriors. The Wolves lost in two separate trips to Waterloo last season, dropping the OUA season opener 6-5, and then in February Lakehead was defeated 7-4 by the Warriors.

Playoff Push

With an OUA record of 5-13-4 (9-15-5 overall), Lakehead is presently 6 points out of a playoff spot with 6 games remaining in the season (all against division opponents), so every game is critical for the Wolves post-season chances.

About the Warriors

Waterloo played two games last weekend and lost them both. The Warriors were nipped 2-1 by York at home on Friday night and then fell 4-1 at crosstown-rival Laurier the following evening.

With an OUA record of 12-10-0, Waterloo is currently tied with Guelph for fourth place in the west division.

Forwards Colin Behenna and Andrew Smith are the Warriors top two point-getters, but the next three are all defencemen (Mike Moffat, Joe Underwood and Stephan Silas), so Waterloo is getting plenty of scoring production from the back end.

Goaltender Mike Morrison has seen most of the action in the Warriors net, but backup Chris Hurry has posted respectable numbers when called upon.

Jersey Auction Saturday

The Thunderwolves will be wearing special one time only jerseys on Saturday night and fans can bid on them at a silent auction table in the lobby of the Fort William Gardens. This is the ninth year of this initiative which so far has raised over $17,000 in net proceeds in support of the Northern Cancer fund.
