Lakehead knocks off rival Mustangs 4-2
The Wolves came out strong in the first period generating multiple scoring chances in the first half and out shooting Wesatern 8-0 in the first 7 minutes of the period. Western would gett going in the second half of the first getting there share of chances but both goalies would stand tall and keep the game scoreless after one.
The Wolves would break the ice first 4:32 into the second period when Josh Van Unen woould skate out of the corner and jam the puck past Western’s McNaughton to the delight of ____ in attendance.
Western would answer back less than a minute later when Aiden Prueter would knock the puck past Christian Cicigoi to silence the crowd.
Lakehead would take the lead back at the 13:39 mark of the period on the powerplay when Nicholas DeGrazia would rip a shot past McNaughton for a 2-1 lead after 2 periods.
The third would see the Thunderwolves add to the lead when Caden Drury would wrist a shot past the Western netminder to make it 3-1. Lakehead would almost make strike again but McNaughton would rob Drury point blank.
Western’s Ben Campeau would strike late to make it 3-2 but Western would not get any closer as Lakehead’s Nicholas DeGrazia would score an empty netter and Lakehead pick up the 4-2 win.
