The Thunderwolves had a rough night against the Gryphons losing 7-2 in front of 1340 fans.

The scoring started when Guelph's Cameron Searles would get his first of the game when he would bang in a loose puck behind Max Wright.

Guelph would add to the lead when Ted McGeen would finish off a nifty passing play and slide the puck past Wright.

The scoring in the first period would be rounded out when Cameron Searles would blast home his second of the game to put Guelph up 3-0.

Lakehead would score while shorthanded but it would be called back when a penalized player was let out of the box too early.

Lakehead would get on the board in the second when Joe Mack would take a feed from Colin Van Den Hurk in behind the Guelph defense and tuck it home.

Colin Van Den Hurk would then blast home a rebound past Guelph's Cregan to cut the lead to two.

Guelph's Liam Ham and Nolan DeGurse would put Guelph up 6-2 heading to the third.

The third period would see some rough stuff late when Guelph's Ted McGeen would strike Spencer Blackwell with across check to the head along the boards. A melee would ensue with McGeen assessed a major for checking to the head and ejected from the game and two roughing minors handed out as well. The Gryphon's Zachary Poirier would score the lone goal of the period shorthanded.

The Wolves hit the road to open the regular season in Windsor Oct 14 and 15.
