Windsor shuts out Lakehead to take 1-0 series lead

In the early moments of the 1st period Olivier Arseneau springs Grant Spence down the left wing and he puts a harmless shot on net and it fooled Max Wright and put Windsor up 1-0

Spencer Blackwell would lay a thunderous hit on Arseneau midway through the first behind the Windsor net to try and give a spark to the Wolves.

Both defenses played a very tight period of hockey blocking a lot of shots in helping their respective goalies out.

The second period would see action at both ends of the rink but Max Wright and Nathan Torchia stood their ground and kept the score 1-0

Windsor swarmed the net late in the period and the puck was loose in the crease but the Lakehead defense helped Max Wright out in a big way keeping the puck out and getting a faceoff.

In the 3rd period Windsor’s Keegan McMullen would pickup a stretch pass from Anthony Stefano up the right wing and cut across the front of the net and flipped it past a sprawled Max Wright to up the lead.

Windsor was not done as Sean Olson would rip a shot from the right faceoff dot through traffic and past Wright to put the Lancers up 3-0

Windsor would seal the game when Mason Kohn would find the back of the empty net to make the final 4-0 for Windsor.

The series now shifts to the Fort William Gardens for Games 2 and 3 if necessary Friday March 3 and Saturday March 4th with game time 7pm both nights.
