Lakehead Thunderwolves opened up the season blanking the Windsor Lancers 1-0.
The game was a tightly contested by both teams with multiple scoring chances on both ends of the ice.
It took until late in the second period for Joe Mack to send Spencer Blackwell into the Windsor zone with a beauty of a pass and Blackwell snapped a wrister on net and Kevin Stiles jumped on a juicy rebound and flipped it past a spralling Lund-Cornish to break the deadlock and put Lakehead up 1-0.
The third featured tight checking and more scoring chances but both goalies shut the door and the Wolves would hold on for the 1-0 win.
Christian Cicigoi would stop 30 shots and Lund-Cornish would stop 26 of 27.
