Lakehead sweeps the SIJHL All Stars with 9-1 in the second game of the Tbaytel Holiday Showcase.
The SIJHL All Stars for the second night in a row got ton the board first when Michael Casey sprung Lucas Bertolin on a breakaway and he slipped the puck in 5 hole on Lakehead’s Carson Cherepak for the early 1-0 lead.
Lakehead would respond 5 minutes later on the powerplay when Luke Janus would knock the puck in at the side of the net to tie the game up at 1-1. Lakehead would strike again before the end of period when Naaman Hofer would rip a shot from the top of the slot over the shoulder of All Stars Nolan Koethler for the 2-1 lead at the end of the 1st period. Lakehead would out shoot the All Stars 23-7 in the 1st.
Lakehead would increase the lead to 3-1 :59 seconds into the 2nd period shorthanded when James Fuchs put a shot on net and it deflect in off of Allstars netminder Koethler. Josh Lehto would find the twine just over 5 minutes later with a wrist shot for a 4-1 lead. Lakehead would continue to pressure on the SIJHL All Stars which would result in the Wolves picking up goals from Austin Peters and Riley Sharun for a 6-1 lead at the end of ther 2nd period. Lakehead would outshoot the All Stars 11-9 in the period.
The third period would see the Thunderwolves got 2 goals from Luke Janus which completed his hat trick and a goal from Dalton MacGillivray to round out the scoring and give the Thunderwolves the 9-1 win.
Lakehead would out shoot the All Stars 23-5 in the period and 57-21in the game.
