The Lakehead Thunderwolves hockey team will head to Windsor for a pair of games with the Lancers at the Windsor Arena this weekend. Game times are Friday and Saturday nights beginning at 7:30 PM, and will be broadcast live on Rock 94 FM.

Series History
Lakehead holds the all-time series lead over the Lancers with a record of 32-9-1, but the Wolves had a difficult time at Windsor last October as the Lancers swept the weekend series by scores of 5-1 on the Friday and 3-0 on the Saturday.

Lakehead returned the favor in early January of 2011 when Windsor made the trip up to Thunder Bay. The Thunderwolves took both games; winning 4-2 on Friday and 5-2 on the Saturday.

Last Time Out
The Wolves are coming off a home sweep of Guelph, but both games played at the Fort William Gardens last weekend were hard-fought battles.

Fridays game went to an overtime shootout, with the Wolves coming out on top 4-3. Saturday night Lakehead overcame an early two-goal deficit before downing the Gryphons 5-4.

Windsor recorded an impressive road sweep last weekend at Ontario Tech, winning 5-3 on Friday night in Oshawa, and then pounding the Ridgebacks 10-2 on Saturday.

About the Lancers
Windsor is a fairly young team, with a total of 14 freshmen on the roster. But some of those first-year players have adapted to CIS hockey quickly. Drew Palmer, Evan Stibbard and D.J. Turner, the Lancers top three scoring forwards, are all rookies.

The Windsor defence is led by junior Steve Ferry and fifth-year senior Scott Todd, and sophomore goaltender Parker Van Buskirk has been solid in net for the Lancers.

Two Hot Teams
Lakehead and Windsor are both streaking right now, as the Lancers have won five games in a row, and the Wolves have taken nine of their last ten games.

The Thunderwolves have been in CIS Top Ten Poll for the last three weeks, and are currently ranked ninth in Canada.

Tussle near the Top
Lakehead is tied with Western Ontario first place in the OUA West Division with 18 points, although the Mustangs have two games in hand.

Windsor sits in third place of the nine-team division, just four points back of the leaders.
