Lakehead tounces Windsor 7-3
With first place in the grasp of both Lakehead and Windsor both teams came out with intensity and purpose. It would be Lakehead that would find the twine first when Liam Whittaker would wrist a sharp angle shot at the Windsor net and it would find the five hole on Max Donoso for the early l-0 lead.
Windsor would answer right back :28 sceonds later when Matt McNamara woud rip a shot from the right circle past Carson Cherepak to tiethe game up at 1. Matt Hasselgren would put Lakehead back on top with a quick wriost shot that would beat Donoso.
Windsor would keep the pressure on and they would tie the game up in the waining seconds of the period when Keegan McMullen would flip a shot past Carson Cherepak to tie the game at 2-2 after 1.
In the second period Lakehead would take the lead for the third time in the game when Luke Janus would knock in a loose puck in a goal mouth scramblefor a 3-2 lead. But hold on Windsor would answer 8 minutes later when Colton Smith would rip a shot from the high slot past Cherepak to tie the game up again this time 3-3.
Lakehead would get a late powerplay and Dalton MacGillivray would rip a shot top shelf off of a beautiful pass from Olivier Pouliot to give the Wolves the 4th lead of the game 4-3 after 2.
Lakehead would add to the lead in the 3rd period when Riley Sharun would make no mistake when he would rip a shot past Donso for a 5-3 lead. Lakehead’s captian Josh Van Unen would up the lead to 6-3 knocking in a rebound from an Olivier Poulioit shot to send the 3397 fans into a frenzy.
Lakehead would seal the win with and empty net goal by Keighan Gerrie which would make the final 7-3. Lakehead now sits atop the OUA Western Confrence with 37 points with the tie breaker on Windsor which is the ROW.
